Permaculture

By Rebecca

I have been reading a book by Adrienne Langman about her adventures in developing for herself and her family a self-sufficient and sustainable food forest with the use of ‘Permaculture’, the creation of the inspirational Bill Mollison. I am in awe of what this couple have done and have learnt invaluable information from the lessons learnt by Mrs Langman. I am already learning how to convert my black thumb to green by persisting with my herb pots in my back courtyard but now after reading about Permaculture and learning more about it, I am determined to master an Urban Permaculture Mini-Forest. Good-luck to me! I was wondering if any other Nourishers are familiar with this type of farming and are doing it Urban style. I love the fact that I step out into my back courtyard and cut Garlic Chives, Spring Onion, Basil and Rocket to add to my salads. Nothing like living food! I one day aspire to have my own acreage and can build an Permaculture Forest.

She would like to use the degree in the future to promote getting back to basics, organic and bio-dynamic food, and Permaculture. She has worked in Child Care and as an International Nanny for 12 yrs and has travelled 27 countries. Her three favourite things are Good Food, Good Friends and Good Conversation. She loves swimming and Oh! her husband ofcourse...hee! hee!
